WHY HEAT TREATMENT NEEDED IN SOME SAPPHIRES
& RUBIES (CORUNDUMS) 
To improve the Color and to bring Brilliance ( Improve Clarity) 
of the Rubies & Sapphires. Certain type of Origins of Sapphire
and Rubies do not give 100% positive result on heat treatment
always. Today’s Market you find 90% of Sapphires are Heated
in traditional method to improve the color & clarity.  
 
What Heat treatment does to the Natural Sapphires and
Rubies.. ?
Certain type of un-dissolved natural impurities (Chemical elements)
which is presented in the natural rough stones (corundum’s) can
be dissolve by very high heat and could turn them to improve
color and to open the crystal of the gems in to a transparent
gem instead of semi- transparent, translucent and in some
occasion translucent to opaque type of gems. Mostly Blackish
Blue Sapphire are unable to change in to lighter color by heat
Treatment. but Sapphire with lighter color or colorless ( with slight
presence of un-dissolved chemical elements being in stone, such
as Geuda) can be improved by heat-treatment (color and clarity).
Most Sapphire rough coming out of  USA mines    (Montana ), 
no need to do pre-shaping or trimming (to remove certain type of
inclusion to avoid cracking and shattering in high heat). Crystal
structure formation on Montana Sapphire allows us to heat treat
them as is without pre-shaping, most of other origins need to be
pre-shaped & trimmed (removing certain type of inclusion prior to
heat treatment to avoid cracking and shattering ).For pre-shaping
( removing certain type of inclusion ), we need to charge a small
fee. Further your rough stones will loose slightly weight on pre-
shaping (pre-forming).If you're not family or do not know to figure
out the out come of the Heat Treatment... its advisable to Heat-
Treat a small Quantity like 50 carats (10 grams). To get an idea
of the result of your rough stones before going on to larger quantity.

METHOD OF SHIPPING YOUR STONES FOR HEAT
TREATMENT:
You could ship your rough stones to Sri Lanka for Heat-
Treatment via Postal Express (EMS) or regular Registered
Air-Mail, otherwise you could use Courier Service, We would
recommend you to ship your rough stones via EMS
[ Express Mail Service through Post Office], its faster,
safer and easy to track online like FedEx.

SHIPPING INSTRUCTION
                                                                                                                                                                                                       
Please make out a Shipping Invoice in a piece of paper and
insert it inside the package stating the name of the gemstone
(rough) weight, pieces & Dollar value ($100 - $250). Do not
put high value, Please write it down on the customs forms or
Postal Shipping Documents as  "MINERAL SPECIMENS " .
Further in bottom of the Shipping Invoice write it down as
"Sapphires are sent for Heat Treating / Cutting and for
re-export only"

PAYMENT

After finish Heat Treating and cutting your stones, we will
email or fax you a detail Invoice (Cost of Heating Treatment,
Cutting & Shipping Cost). At the receipt of the funds through
Western Union,Paypal, International Money Order or wire
transfer to our Bank we will ship your stones back to you via
Postal Service by registered airmail, so normally the postman
brings the goods, you sign for them and you have them without
further formalities.
